A website migration is not a file transfer. Every page you have ever ranked for sits at a specific URL, and Google has spent years building trust in those addresses. Move the site without telling search engines where everything went, and that trust resets.

What business owners ask us before moving a website.
Will I lose my Google rankings when I move my website?

Not if the migration is done properly. Rankings are attached to URLs, so as long as every old address permanently redirects to its new equivalent and the page content stays recognisable, Google transfers the authority across. Expect a small wobble for a week or two while pages are recrawled — that is normal and it recovers. Permanent losses happen when redirects are missing, not because the site moved.
How long will my website be offline during the migration?

In practice, it isn't. The new site is fully built and tested on staging while your current site keeps serving visitors. We lower your DNS TTL a day in advance so the switch propagates in minutes, and both versions stay live during the changeover — so whichever one a visitor reaches, they get a working website.
My traffic collapsed after a migration someone else did. Can you fix it?

Usually, yes. We pull your old URL list from Search Console, archived crawls, and backlink data, work out which ranked pages are now returning errors, and rebuild the redirect map that should have been there. Recovery is rarely instant — Google needs to recrawl — but most sites see meaningful improvement within four to eight weeks of the redirects going live.
Should I change my URLs while I am redesigning the site?

Only where there is a real reason. Every URL you change is a redirect you have to maintain and a small amount of authority you risk. Our default is to keep the existing structure unless it is genuinely harming you — and if a restructure is worth doing, we do it in the same migration rather than putting your site through the process twice.
Do you migrate the website content as well, or just the files?

Everything comes across: pages, posts, images, PDFs, forms, product and customer data, and the metadata search engines rely on. On a replatform we rebuild templates on the new system, but the content and its URLs stay yours. You get a full inventory before launch so you can confirm nothing has been dropped.
Can you migrate my site without involving my current developer or host?

In most cases yes — we usually only need control-panel or registrar access. If your current provider is unresponsive or holding access, we can often rebuild from the live site and public archives instead. Tell us what access you actually have during the free migration plan and we will tell you honestly whether it is enough.
